Its repertoire features many of the great treasures of the sacred music canon including Mozart and Haydn masses and anthems and motets from the Renaissance to modern works by the greatest composers. The choir also sings Latin chants and psalms.

It provides liturgical music on the second Saturday of each month for the 5.30pm Vespers followed by the 6pm vigil mass at St Mary’s Cathedral and on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter, also presenting concerts and Come and Sing events throughout the year.

Rehearsals are weekly on Monday nights during academic term time between 6.30pm-8pm in the cathedral precincts.

Numbers fluctuate but membership sits around 50 voices.

Members pay a yearly subscription fee. This can be paid annually or termly.

Membership is always open, and we are actively seeking and welcoming new members.

There is no audition process, but singers should have good music reading skills and be able to sing well and in tune.

You don’t have to be a Roman Catholic, but you will need to respect the traditions of the Catholic faith to participate in the liturgical life of St Mary’s Cathedral.

If you are interested in joining, you can come along for a month to experience the rehearsal process and a Cathedral mass service after which you will be asked to pay the membership fees.

Please consider joining St Mary’s Singers for the opportunity to learn from Australia’s finest church musicians, to be able to sing in the splendour of St Mary’s Cathedral Sydney and to make new friends who share your passion for high-quality choral music.
